I began my career in education as a Technology Teacher at Woodland Elementary Charter School in Fulton County Georgia. From there I transitioned to a role in technology support, which included troubleshooting and maintaining everything from classroom computers to projectors and document cameras. This position evolved into a role that allowed me to work with teachers to find innovative ways to integrate technology into the classroom. Working side by side with teachers for ten years prepared me to take on a district leadership role in another school district.
I now work at Clarke County Schools in Athens, Georgia, a high poverty district but rich with technology. All students in grades 3 through 10 have a digital device that they are able to take home. My primary role in the district allows me to oversee the digital implementation and to work with schools and teachers to fully implement the district technology initiatives. The focus of my work is centered on using technology to support instruction in the content areas.
I am married with two children; one a recent graduate of UGA and one soon to be graduate, also from UGA. My wife is also an educator and is now a full time clinical professor at Kennesaw State University.
